In furnishing his home, H. F. du Pont exhibited a fondness for the Federal and early classical-revival style. One such example is a tilt-top stand with scalloped top that features "swept" sides and blocked ends. It was made in New England around 1800. In keeping with the taste for clean, geometric shapes, this design adds drama by contrasting smooth curves with projecting corners. This modern version by Hickory Chair has all the charm of the original antique but was updated for today Dark Walnut finish is standard. Optional finishes available as 6485-70. Optional Sable finish shown. Also shown in optional Moonstone paint and in Dove White paint.
