The Imperial Yellow Ginger Jar is a decorative yellow jar that has its roots far in the past. The Imperial label is apropos for the porcelain jar because this piece is made of clay sourced from the area surrounding the kilns that produced objects for the Imperial estate during the heyday of the dynasties. The formulas to achieve the particular yellow on this jar’s surface is a secret one guarded by ceramicist families devoted to the single color. The bright yellow was originally produced to represent the Emperor in the Forbidden City.
