Bio
Tim O’Brien has spent nearly two decades helping clients across the U.S. create beautiful, comfortable homes, whether it's a primary residence, a vacation getaway, or a coastal retreat. Based at Furnitureland South, he brings a thoughtful and experienced approach to every project, with a strong focus on spatial planning, scale, and fabric design. His calm, collaborative style and deep product knowledge make the design process smooth and enjoyable for his clients.
Tim works with homeowners, builders, and interior designers from all over the country, helping bring to life everything from modern mountain homes to relaxed beach houses. His ability to find the right starting point and pull a full home together has earned him a loyal following and membership in Furnitureland South’s prestigious 4 Million Dollar Club.
While he’s also completed projects abroad, from the Middle East to the Caribbean, Tim’s heart is in helping U.S. clients furnish homes that feel both elevated and personal.

Downtown Charleston Luxury Rental Property
Nestled in beautiful downtown Charleston, South Carolina this home needed furniture to match its location and character. Design Consultant Tim O’Brien found designs from Four Hands, GJ Styles, Dovetail, Gabby, Sarreid and Rowe Furniture to create an industrialized modern style. While their timeline was short, Tim met their needs for the entire home by working closely with a local designer. Now their luxury rental home features beautiful designs and incredible function — including a several high quality mattresses from Sleepland at Furnitureland South.
Mother and Daughter Design
This home design project, by Design Consultant Tim O’Brien, started with a mother-daughter trip to Furnitureland South to shop for the daughters’ new home. When the daughter's home was complete, the mother was so pleased with the results that she and her daughter made another visit to see Tim O'Brien to furnish her own home just three houses down the street in Clemmons, NC.
St. Simon Island Getaway
Tim O'Brien combined styles and manufacturers to create a comfortable and stylish interior for a client's home on St. Simon Island. All of the furnishings and rugs were designed to compliment the home’s unique architectural features and give this beautiful custom home an elegant, yet relaxed feel. While giving each room it's own unique style, Tim was able to effortlessly flow the design of one room into the next. Tim used manufacturers like Chaddock, Century, Lorts, Lane Venture, Lexington and MWB rugs to bring the client's vision to life!
Ohio Showcase Home
Designed for a builder showcase 2016 Homearama in Ohio, Design Consultant Tim O'Brien combined styles and manufacturers to create an award-winning look. All of the furnishings and rugs were designed to compliment the home’s unique architectural features and give this beautiful custom home an elegant, yet relaxed feel. While giving each room it's own unique style, Tim was able to effortlessly flow the design of one room into the next. Tim used manufacturers like Huntington House, Wesley Hall, Chaddock, MWB Rugs, Four Hands, Lexington, Vanguard and Tommy Bahama Outdoor to compliment the large open spaces and the beautiful architecture. At the end of the show, the home won several awards and all of the furniture was sold to the clients.
Two Day Design
Tim O'Brien says he had a pleasure working with clients to furnish their new home in Ohio. The couple wanted to complement the modern elements of this new construction, which consisted of grays and creams, with pops of gold and silver. The main living area is an open floor plan with a large kitchen adjoining the great room, breakfast nook, office and master bedroom . They sourced furniture with the intent of durability, including: solid alder wood by Lorts, Sunbrella fabrics by Vanguard, stone cocktail table by Sherrill, crypton fabrics for Wesley Hall bar stools, and protected leather by Ekornes stressless chairs. The hand knotted wool MWB rugs, lamps, tables and Christopher Guy mirror brought it all together. The couple loves the way this turned out. The layout of the furniture gives them an easy traffic pattern and provides a comfortable and durable living space when their grandchildren visit.
Bluffton Low Country Paradise
This beautiful home is located in the low country area near Hilton Head in Palmetto Bluffs, South Carolina. Tucked away on a private road, it offers panoramic views of the famous salt marshes and the May River. This is the third home that Tim O'Brien has helped this client furnish. Together, they turned this project into a reality using brands such as Tommy Bahama Outdoor, Century, Hickory White, Johnathan Charles, and MWB Rugs. The attention to detail and the peaceful setting make this a truly welcoming home.
Custom-Designed Wisconsin Retreat
This vacation home, with all its unique architectural details, was designed by the home owner to be a cozy family retreat. From the deck of the home, in Land O Lakes, Wisconsin, a bald eagle’s nest is situated in the same view as the stunning 468-acre Forest Lake. The furniture selections are US-made and most are local North Carolina vendors. With Tim’s assistance, the family selected Hancock and Moore, Chaddock, Classic Leather, and Hickory White. All of the rugs and furnishings were custom designed and ordered from our showroom.
Longboat Key Vacation Home
This luxurious vacation home is located in prestigious Longboat Key, FL. All of the furnishings and rugs were designed to complement the home's modern architectural features and give this beautiful custom home an elegant, yet relaxed vacation feel. The home features many of our best American-made furniture vendors such as: Chaddock sofas in the Great Room; Century Furniture in the bedrooms; Classic Leather recliners and storage cocktail ottomans; Harden office furniture; Tommy Bahama outdoor furniture. Others vendors used include Vanguard Furniture, Marge Carson, Fremarc Designs and Huntington House.

Modern Qatar Villa
This new modern villa was furnished by a very nice family who traveled here from the Middle East. They were referred by another family from the region who did the same. They spent 3 days in our 1 million square foot showroom designing their furniture and layout. They just took delivery and very pleased with overall design. We handled everything including; travel arrangement, design, fabric selection and shipping the furniture to their new home in Qatar.
