Flat Rock Patio Home
What are patio homes? Patio homes or cluster homes are part of a unit of several houses attached to each other. It can share a wall or several walls. It is similar to condos or townhouses in this way, but in miniature. Patio homes tend to have only one to one and a half stories, compared to townhomes which have two stories or more. They might or might not have a concrete or wooden deck or patio outside. Patio homes are also referred to as carriage homes, garden homes, cluster homes and courtyard homes. Patio homes are a recent addition to the housing scene according to Realtor.com. The patio homes came into fashion in the 1970's as gated and shared new home communities popped up all over the U.S. This client chose custom upholstery through out her home, Bathroom upgrades, kitchen upgrades, custom window treatments, accessories, case goods, Occasional tables,& art collection management, & custom landscaping design by Veronica Neal
The Cliffs at Walnut Cove
Interlocking pavers lead to this couples 6000 square foot, European country-style home. The exterior features earth toned castle rock which, along with cedar carriage doors and high pitched gables, help create an Old World feel. This client wanted a comfortable atmosphere that retained her sense of style. In the front entry, an italian hand-carved mirror hangs above a beautiful server by Fergason Copeland, and in the nearby dining room, a herringbone design on the table also by Copeland adds European interest as does the copper top of the credenza. Custom fabric on the chairs and the lush silk drapes in warm wheat and eggplant add softness. The beige, toffees, and aubergine colors flow from room to room. Casually elegant the great room offers soft cushioned sofas and upholstered, high style chairs and custom drapery panels frame the view of thee mountains golf course below. High Point Cottage Charm
The Johnson Street Historic District represents the best-preserved section of Johnson Place, High Point's first major "streetcar suburb," which was laid out by developer R. Homer Wheeler in 1907. During the 1910s and 1920s the four tree-lined blocks of Johnson Street were the premier location for the residences of the men who managed High Point's burgeoning furniture and hosiery industries. The handsome but unpretentious Bungalow, Four Square, Colonial, and Victorian style houses held not only mill owners, but also many civic leaders, including the publishers of the city's newspaper, the founders of the city's hospital, and many politicians. Children raised on Johnson Street often made their mark far from the city, including New York Times music critic and author, J. G. Briggs, Olympic medalist Harry Williamson and four-star Army general Maxwell Thurman. The first-time visitor to Johnson Street first notices the trees, the yards, and the lines of porches. The 1900s, 1910s and early 1920s were the heyday of the porch in America. Every new residence, it seemed had a broad cool front veranda. In that era before air conditioning, the porch was a breezy outdoor living room, where the family sat and visited with neighbors on summer evenings. Children loved porches, too, for they were an outdoor playground even when it rained. Beginning in the 1920s tastes changed and porches got smaller and smaller until by the Ranch house era of the 1950s they disappeared. Next, the Johnson Street visitor notices the houses attached to those porches. Most of the dwellings have two floors, with the upper one sometimes squeezed under the roof in what architectural historians call a "one-and-a-half-story" arrangement. Gable roofs and hip roofs predominate. Exterior walls are often simple overlapping weatherboard, also known as clapboard. Sometimes wood shingles or horizontally grooved "novelty" or "German" siding are used. About a quarter of the dwellings are covered in red brick. Johnson Street residences reflect the major architectural trends of the era. High Point had no professional architects at this time, so most designs were likely created by local contractors, inspired by nationally published books and magazines, and refined in collaboration with homeowners. Johnson Street houses are a blend of architectural styles, but the predominant flavor is post-Victorian.
Hendersonville Patio Home
I really enjoyed working this Patio home remodel in WNC. This patio home was more than 20 years old. My team & I Completed a partial kitchen remodel to include a home office, breakfast knook, laundry area, & broom closet. This client was a retired Food scientist. She was extremely organized. She loved her vintage Charleston Forge Bistro set, one of her first purchases in WNC. We utilized her bistro set in her new remodel. I encourage my clients to use their collections & furniture pieces in their home designs. We recovered her husbands favorite chair in her bedroom, I designed a new bed for her motion mattress with her top of the bed ensemble with a fabric she loved. In the great room we custom designed a Charleston Forge dining room table with a hand planed top as the centerpiece for her dinner parties & the "Hendersonville Country Club", feel for her game nights & social gatherings. The chandelier was a vintage piece she adored. I redesigned the living room with a custom sofa & chairs in her favorite fabrics to coordinate with the artwork she had collected. Her stunning cocktail table & antiques were utilized in her project. In the sunroom we created a reading knook, and added another Charleston Forge bistro table with parsons chairs for her game night & home entertainment needs. She loved to sew, & in her attic craft room she wished to use as a loft guest room. So we did custom headboards & top if the bed & utilized her collections too! This client inspired me in such a way to see that at any stage of life you can have fun!
First Home in WNC
This client was so cool! She had gone to college in Asheville & stayed. She bought a remodel on the South Side. I helped her with her Custom sectional with an extra long chaise because she had a few dogs to hang out with on the "couch" with along with her fiance'. For her master bedroom & guest room, she chose a pastel fabric base cloth for her bedroom headboards.
Deerfield Village
I really enjoyed working with Doug & Jean at The Residences of deerfield. This couple was downsizing and ordered 2 custom love seats in White faux leather by Kravet. They wanted a white leather look that could withstand crayons & an occasional glass of wine! Later Doug had me make him his custom office chair in leather of course with nail head. He was a genius and a retired accountant. Love my customers! THE PASSIONATE PURSUIT OF AN ACTIVE RETIREMENT Deerfield’s Haden Hall offers 62 apartments, and a beautiful fourth floor dining venue with sweeping long range views of the northeast mountains (and on a clear day, a view of the legendary Biltmore Estate). Our residents enjoy mountain views throughout the Deerfield community. Deerfield offers 96 beautifully appointed cottages, 16 villas, 13 cluster homes, and 253 apartment homes. Residents reflect their own personal tastes in their furnishings and décor. Deerfield’s beautifully appointed cottages designed especially for senior living, range in size from smaller residences in the original St. Giles neighborhood to the newer, larger cottages.
Vintage Mars Hill, NC
One day in walked a very distinguished man, whom was a professor at The Mars Hill University which is a private, liberal arts institution offering baccalaureate degrees and master's degrees. Campus is located near Asheville in the mountains ... This piece belonged to his mother. He decided to recover it in a fabric he thought worked well for the entry of his lovely home. The rug art that hung over the Vintage sofa was very dear to him too. It was a joy to experience Mars Hill, NC.
Heather's Sofa
I first met Heather & her husband at my boutique home furnishings store in Asheville. She loved roses & adored the settee in the window. She custom ordered the Settee style sofa. Her special request was that she wanted it to have a cotton canvas slip cover to protect her first choice of Blue Danube chintz cotton fabric from Green House Fabrics. I had one made for! She loved having two looks! Formal, to go with her antiques when she entertained & Casual for her Cats. A few years later she moved to a new home. She contacted me to recover it again, She chose a beautiful linen. Timeless elegance.
Sun Room in The Ramble
This client was a retired designer. She loved this sectional from my boutique. We delivered it to her happy dog! So much fun.
North Myrtle Beach Condo
