Apothecary Glass Jar
Hand blown brilliantly clear Polish glass formed in steel molds. Vertical ridges are imprinted when the glass is in a molten hot state giving it the optic pattern. Available in two sizes. The Process: The molten blob of glass is blown in the steel mold forming the overall shape. A separate glass blower is preparing the ball detailed stem and pulled foot of this jar as well as a third team preparing the lids. The foot is applied to the bowl or jar while still molten then fused together from the heat. These pieces are then placed into an annealing oven to cool down over a 4 hour period of time to produce a stable piece of glass. The top edges of the jar and the bottom edges of the lid are hand ground down to a polished edge on large wheels of textured stone and sand a color cut process that procedures the beautifully simple edge seen on both.
