Karen Evans
Karen Evans graduated with a BFA from Georgia State University in Atlanta, Georgia with concentrated studies in drawing and painting. She holds a teaching certification in Art Education and taught in the public school system in DeKalb County, Georgia for 10 years. Teaching adult oil classes in her private studio is also a passion for Karen.
Karen paints a variety of subjects and styles including still life.
"I enjoy painting in a series and this one involves desserts. These colorful little subjects smell so good in my studio that it's tempting to take a bite! Especially if it's chocolate, because as we all know, chocolate solves everything! This series has been so much fun that I can't stop looking for the next special one to paint!
Painting in oils, using a vibrant palette is my passion. I find the play of hard and soft edges along with the use of light to be the most energizing aspect of painting. Writing interesting titles for these desserts is also a fun endeavor. Moreover, guarding the still life until it's captured on canvas is a risky challenge. My studio refrigerator is always filled with labeled desserts... 'Do not eat without artist's permission'. And no, I do not eat them all!"
Terry Zash (aka Zoot)
Zoot, a native of Oregon, had his first public fine art showing at the age of fourteen and pursued his art education at universities in Oregon, California and North Carolina. During his undergraduate years, he spent two years at the bottom of the Grand Canyon area studying the wonderful color palette nature created over millions of years. His experience in life studies and the influence of our western culture inspired and influenced him as an artist.
For Zoot, the splendor of nature and wonder of the world leaves a lasting impression that outlasts any one artistic movement. His style is not derived from specific movements or periods in art history, but rather 3-dimensional storytelling. He has his own unique style, which can be described as an all-embracing balance of converse, yet connected, imagery. His style is diverse and he captures life in both subtle and dramatic ways.
Whether it is a graceful acrylic landscape or a resonant abstract field of color on acrylic or metal, Zoot’s artwork invokes a feeling of visual energy. His paintings call the viewer to reflect…a silent moment kept for inner-thoughts and deeper meanings.
Zoot is an award-winning artist and his work can be found in corporate and private collections around the world.
