I recently returned from a trip to London and Paris, where much of the inspiration for today’s wonderful design was born. Furniture, fashion, style, and good taste all had some of their most influential beginnings in those history filled cities. Classic, timeless and breathtakingly beautiful sites surround you everywhere you go. When I have visited London in the past I have always loved its’ elegance and beauty, but now have to add Paris to my list of favorite places. Is there anything more instantly recognizable and identifiable than the Eiffel Tower?
Historically, many of the most beautiful furniture styles have been influenced by Europe. Imagine a world without Chippendale, Sheraton, Hepplewhite, Queen Anne, Louis XIV, among others. These names are associated with some of the world’s most beloved furniture styles.Generations of people have welcomed these designs into their homes, and passed them down through the years as treasured possessions. Whether simple and classic, or highly rococo and embellished, they are all distinguished by quality and style. |

I returned home full of ideas, and reaffirmed in my belief that you can never go wrong with classics. Whether your style is traditional, contemporary or your own special version of undefinable, a great classic can always fit into your decorating scheme. The most gorgeous and interesting homes always have a blend of styles to create that unique look that says “YOU”. If you are looking for something to enrich the value and style of your furnishings, try adding a true classic piece. It can be something as simple as a lovely walnut chest, an antique English pine sideboard, a black cherry pencil post bed, or a mahogany occasional table. It’s all about quality, and that stands the test of time.
Much of today’s best known furniture is produced in large factories, and can originate from all over the world. That is not a bad thing, as there are some wonderful products coming out of unexpected places. Having said that, there are still treasures that can be found from companies which have a more hands on approach in their manufacturing process. I’m speaking of companies that produce top quality goods, from premium woods, made by woodworking craftsmen with pride. Since you have a choice every time you plan a purchase, why not look into the manufacturers who build classics? Each piece is almost sure to appreciate in value due to the exquisite workmanship, and limited availability.

I encourage every client I work with, particularly young ones, to add a really good quality piece of furniture to their collections every year if their budget allows. By doing that, they can have some fabulous pieces blended in with their starting pieces, and eventually have a home of excellent quality furnishings
Blending a classic piece of furniture into your home is easier than you think. Imagine that your great grandmother left you a wonderful hall table. You would use it with love and pride incorporating it into your personal style, whatever that is. Most of today’s new classic manufacturers give you the option to pick finish, levels of distressing if desired, different hardware among other customizations. Those choices are usually found only in the best companies who are creating tomorrow’s heirlooms. This gives you the option to customize a quality piece to blend successfully into your existing pieces. |
We are fortunate here at Furnitureland South to have wonderful furniture manufacturers from which to choose. Among them are many excellent choices who offer the classic top quality furniture I am referring to. In addition, there are excellent values all up and down the price scale from mid to high, so we can offer something for every budget.
I would love to help with your selections. Furniture and interior design is my passion, and I get excited with each new project. Whether you need one piece, or are furnishing an entire home, I’m ready to help. We’ll have lots of fun together, and make your home truly a showplace |
