Furnitureland South Employee Benefits

At Furnitureland South, we believe that our people are our most valuable resource. As part of our commitment to the health and well-being of our employees and their families, we provide a comprehensive and competitive benefit program. All of the following benefits are offered to regular full-time Furnitureland South employees.

BlueCrossBlueShieldAs an employee with Furnitureland South, you can participate in the group medical plan through Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina. Through BCBSNC you will have two coverage options: BCBSNC Blue Value 1-2-3 and BCBSNC Blue Options HSA. The BCBS Blue Value 1-2-3 medical plan covers a variety of benefits including no-cost preventive services, copayments for primary care physician offices visits and pharmacy services, routine vision coverage and hospitalization. The BCBS HSA medical plan also covers no-cost preventive services and provides a lower maximum out-of-pocket along with the ability to fund and utilize a Healthcare Savings Account (HSA). Both Blue Cross Blue Shield medical plans also cover routine eye exams and provide a $200 per-year, per-covered member lens and frame benefit. Regardless of the plan you choose, the extensive network of providers offered by Blue Cross Blue Shield and the market competitive premiums make this a great benefit for employees of Furnitureland South.

Furnitureland South also offers a standalone vision care plan through United Healthcare to help manage the cost of eyeglasses and contact lenses. Annual eye examinations are provided to each covered member at any network provider for a copayment.

An employee who participates in the Lincoln Financial dental plan with Furnitureland South can see any dentist for their dental needs. Twice-annual cleanings are covered with no co-pay or deductible, and every covered family member receives a maximum of $1,500 per calendar year in benefits.

Flexible Spending Accounts
Flexible spending accounts (FSA) help you take advantage of tax savings on eligible health care and dependent care expenses. Furnitureland South offers two flexible spending accounts: a Health Care Reimbursement Account (for those medical expenses not covered under insurance) and a Dependent Care Reimbursement Account (for reimbursement for daycare expenses for eligible dependents). The FSA may be used in conjunction with the BCBS Blue Value 1-2-3 medical plan (it may also be used with the BCBS Blue Options HSA plan as long as you are not funding an HSA account) or with another eligible plan outside of those offered by Furnitureland South.

Life Insurance
Furnitureland South provides every eligible employee with $10,000 of group term life insurance coverage, as well as $2,500 spousal and up to $2,500 dependent coverage at no cost to the employee. Additional supplemental group term life insurance coverage is offered through Principal Insurance at very affordable premiums on a guaranteed issue basis.

Disability Coverage
Should you be unable to work and provide for your family, short-term and long-term disability coverage is available to eligible employees. This coverage is provide by Lincoln Financial and pays you 60% of your pre-disability income should you become disabled. The reasonable premium cost more than makes up for the peace of mind this coverage brings.

Accident Insurance
Accidents happen, and this coverage helps plan for those inevitable events! The accident coverage through Allstate, provides monetary compensation for medical and non-medical related expenses incurred as a result of an accident.

Critical Illness Coverage
Nobody plans to be critically ill, but should it happen to you, the cost to you can be great. The Critical Illness coverage through Allstate offers financial support when a critical illness diagnosis occurs. There are guaranteed issue amounts available, four benefit categories, plus an additional wellness benefit. Benefits are paid directly to you.

Cancer Insurance
Cancer insurance through Allstate is offered to help supplement existing insurance coverage and provide reimbursement for non-medical expenses related to cancer treatment, which can be significant. Additionally, there is a cancer screening benefit within the plan that provides for a $75.00 per-covered individual, per-year reimbursement for most cancer screening associated with a routine exam.

Furnitureland South offers a 401(k) plan through Securian Retirement Services that is funded by your voluntary pre-tax contributions along with a $.50 on the dollar (up to 4% of your gross compensation) match provided by the company. You are eligible to participate following six months of continuous employment and may enroll during the 401(k) open enrollment period in January or July. A Roth(k) after-tax option is also offered as part of this savings plan.
